Much better than the first - X2: X-Men United Reviews

The first X Men was fair, but nothing special, or great, but this one is one of the best movies I have everseen, and beats Spiderman 2 for the best Superhero film. Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stuart, and Anna Paquin, all give great performances, just a great film.

A sequel shockingly better than the original - X2: X-Men United Reviews

The sequel which exceeds its immediate predecessor is the least common of movie beasts, a rara avis to be treasured. Those few examples that leap to mind--Godfather II, The Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Quest for the Holy Grail--occupy treasured places in the pantheon and are part of integrally related trilogies. Even the archetypical Rocky took a bevy of sequels to top the original. X-2: X-Men United manages to craft a genuinely good film out of thoroughly inferior materials, a testament to everyone on the project. Perhaps the most apt of those inevitable comparisons comes to George Lucas in the Star Wars trilogy, whose latter two offerings benefitted tremendously from the infusion of funds and directorial ambit the commercial success of the first made possible. If only from the 134-minute running time and orgy of obviously expensive visual effects, it is clear that X2 is of the same provenance. Director Bryan Singer has a spectacular grasp of pacing and character development, skills amply on evidence in his two previous major commercial productions (not including the original X-Men in 2000), The Usual Suspects (1995) and Apt Pupil (1998). The film develops slowly, taking full advantage of its long running time, reintroducing the characters from the first film. Xavier's idyllic School for Gifted Youngsters in Westchester is given plenty of screentime, juxtaposed against a mindbloring opening sequence in the White House introducing the new mutant in the mix, Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming, in a lot of makeup). The eclectic mix from the original film is all back: Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Storm (Halle Berry), Jean Grey (Famke Jannsen), Cyclops (James Marsden), Rogue (Anna Paquin), Mystique (Rebecca Romjin-Stamos). Though an amply talented cast, they are an ensemble dwarfed in some ways by their respective headmen, Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Magneto (Ian McKellen). The two powerful mutants squared off in the first film and Magneto lost--temporarily. In the new installment, as the title suggests, they'll be working together against a common threat: a black-ops military man William Stryker (Brian Cox) so profoundly hateful of mutants that he has hatched an elaborate plan to kill them all. The collaboration is more rewarding than the first film's struggle. Xavier is captured by Stryker early in the film, and set against his own personal demons, leaving Magneto to lead the X-Men. His inherent self-possession befits a true dramatic antivillain, and can be favorably compared to the Darth Vader of Lucas' films, a man of deep dignity who has gone over to the dark side. His escape from the "plastic prison" (Magneto's power is to move metal telekinetically) in which the military had kept him is a cinematic spectacle, set to regal pace and instrumentation. Ian McKellen is the dramatic force of the film, though the truest force comes from elsewhere. The gravity of the film comes from the realization of the darker theme running through the first. There were a few excellent scenes between Stewart and McKellen in the first film differing on how to combat the bigotry rampant in society against mutants. The far-reaching implications of that social question were given short shrift in X-Men, but ample time in the second allows them to move along apace with the adventure. When Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), a teenaged mutant, returns home to his family after fleeing his beseiged school, his family is sweetly but vividly apalled. "Can't you try... not being a mutant?" asks his Norman Rockwell mother. He is turned into the police by his own brother. Later, the 'evil' mutant doppleganger Mystique is asked why she doesn't simply adopt human form all the time and escape discrimination, her answer is terse: "Because I shouldn't have to." This is reparte with gravitas. Of course, this is an action movie, not a social drama piece. The film is peppered with allusions to the underlying social issues, but only in a handful of scenes are they given the spotlight. Thus Singer carefully keeps the tone lighter, making the deeper questions a part of his environment rather than the driving force of the movie. Regular infusions of visual spectacles keeps the audience from morosing too deeply about the poor spot in which the mutants find themselves. Ostensibly, the movie is "about" the end of the story arc concerning Wolverine begun in the first movie. Wolverine was a man without a memory, a vagabond. The first film was about his redemption under the skillful mollities of Professor Xavier, but his past remained a question mark. In this film, Stryker's plot against mutants and his own past collide and he finds that he must confront the past in order to save Xavier and all mutants from calamity. The story is pleasantly pat, a plot which must be taken with suspension of disbelief but is never a distraction; it moves along smoothly, relying upon the action sequences and deeper moments to keep the audience interested--exactly what the plot of an action movie should strive after. Singer's detailed characterizations keep the occasionally silly characters from becoming farce. Stryker, though a comic book villain, is driven by clearly emoted internal pain, though Cox's performance is somewhat more fervid than necessary. Jackman's laconic Wolverine continues to work well as a proxy protagonist. His attention to detail is such that even the one-shot villainess's death is treated with a certain bittersweet care, despite her complete lack of development. The ensemble cast walks well the line between palpable mediocre performance and distractingly obtrusive dazzle, realizing the gist of the movie is to be found in the world of spectacle and social tension it has wrought. Singer has been singularly underutilized as a director of excellent credentials. The Usual Suspects was not a fluke of circumstance, but the product of a deft hand. He was assuredly not given a chance to practice his art fully in the original X-Men, but his talent is on showcase here, bringing together a melange of elements to create a deeply satisfying movie. By the end, even the most tepid watcher of action films must find himself wanting to see what will happen in the next installment. Singer is already working on X-Men 3, and in his hands, it promises to build further on the successes of the first two films to create a franchise which will last far beyond his direction (though later films will no doubt duffer for lack of it.) X-2 is an action movie that has no reason to be anything more than a summer blockbuster but manages to achieve much more.

X-cellent even the second time around - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X-Men was originaly such a hit because of its long lasting classic comic book background. With the first film a huge sucess, it would be difficult to lose fan base on such a heightened sequal. We all knew X2 would be Wolverine's chance to find out just who fused the ademantium to his skeleton, and we knew Magneto would escape and have some daring plan to once again try and evolutionize, in a way, homosapien life, but did we know it would be this fun? Indeed, this film left no corner unturned, as it was witty, enjoyable, and the teamwork between both sides was a nice suprise. The cast remained strong and the new characters were very rounded and impresive. We saw such new faces as Nightcrawler and Lady Deathstrike and was introduced more personally with Iceman, Pyro, even Jubilee. Has anybody spotted Beast yet? AH-Ha, I have! Now, for the bad part, a very beloved character will loose their life in this flick, but if you are an avid comic fan and have read the series correctly, you will know what happens...you want to see it now don't you? The movie stays to the plot points and the denoument follows up nice and smooth, the way a good film should. I am unsure of the release date, but there will be a third installment to this great film. It is very fun to watch this all star cast, and route right along with your favorite characters. Every actor truely plays their part to perfection, including the much overlooked Famke Janssen and the talented Anna Paquin. The special effects are very believable and expect the same great anime' stunts that you've seen in most summer time blockbusters. Bottom Line: A great and fun film, perfect for the family. Buy the DVD, as it will be enjoyed by many long after the 'comics-into-movies' fad wears out.

Stop making these stupidhero movies! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

After the hulk and daredevil you think people would have learned their lesson but no! This movie was terrible in every single way right down to the janky old acting! don't watch this movie if you like comics, it will make you mad!

Eye candy...but good eye candy - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X-Men 2 is an action movie with plenty of sci-fi, believable characters, heart, and awesome FX. Better than the original.

X-men 2 - X2: X-Men United Reviews

Some talented actors and actresses, such as Ian McKellen and Halle Berry (along with some mediocre ones who I won't mention) made this movie worth watching, despite a weak story. There were some thrilling moments along the way and some of the visual effects were very good, but the typically predictable comic book story was just not very interesting.

Best movie of its genre - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X-men, the greatest comic book has been turned into the greatest superhero movie. Better than spiderman (of course) and its far overatted sequel. Again better story, better cast, better effects, and better in everything else a superhero movie needs. A must see for anyone of all ages.

Two thumbs up - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X2 was a great movie with plenty of action and suspense to keep me entertained, a great cast with some pretty hot babes such as Halle Berry, Famke Jannsen, Rebecca Stamos, and the Lady Deathstrike chick. I thought it was much better than the first, I like how Magneto escapes from his plastic prison. I like the part in The White House with Nightcrawler kicking the crap out of everyone, and the part where Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike have a huge claw fight. My favorite characters were Logan, Storm, Lady Deathstrike, Jean, and Magneto. This movie was bad and you should rent it if you havent seen it.

Wonderful! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

Everyone says that the sequel is always bad, but all the sequels I?ve reviewed here so far are great! Who even made up that junk about bad sequels? I?m mad at them, whoever they are!!! Well, to get to the review, this movie has much more action than the last. Who the characters are it never really explains because they expect you to have seen the last one. It makes up for it though, because it?s full of story and appearances of popular characters from the comic books. The movie introduces Nightcrawler, a blue-skinned mutant who looks like a demon and can teleport, Collosus, a character who can generate organic steel armor over his skin, and Yuriko/Lady Deathstryke, who is Wolverine 2.0 in every way possible. It?s based on the graphic novel ?God Loves Man Kills?, where Reverend William Stryker tries to kill all the mutants, because he believes that they are a creation of Satan. In the movie, he?s a colonel, (much different) and believes mutants should die because he just has prejudice against them (not as good a reason to try and wipe them out then the Stryker?s in the comic book). Anyway, this is one of the best movies I?ve ever seen, (though I just saw it an hour ago, I might change my mind later, because I almost always do). RATING: 9/10 This movie is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action/violence, some sexuality and brief language.

There is but one word for this movie: fun! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X2 is easily the most fun I've ever (EVER) had in a theater. For Marvel fanatics, or even just kids who used to watch the Saturday Morning Cartoon on Fox (like me), it doesn't get much better. My brother and I loved naming each and every hero in the school and watching the great fight scenes (especially the one of Wolverine v. Deathstrike). So much fun, anyone who knows anything about the X-Men will love it.

This movie rocks!! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

I really enjoyed the movie to the fullest. It had loads of action, a groundbreaking story, brilliant actors and loads of other stuff. It's much better than the first movie, and that's rare considering it's a sequal. Ian McKellens character Magneto,I did enjoy the most. Those who say that this movie is bad are wrong..and after all it's only a movie, and an very good one indeed. See it and enjoy! =)

Hello my movie! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

Quite the best movie so far this year. I loved it from beginning to end. I loved Anna Paquin and Hugh Jackman. Paquin is the best but i wish she got more screen time and i wish she would do more movies. She only had Buffalo Soldiers and this coming out this year. O well. But anyways the story and visuals made this the movie to see.

We need more gambit! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This was so much better than the first X-Men. It was good that they focused on the other X-Men instead of just Rogue and Wolverine. Face it, they are cool characters, but WHERE WAS GAMBIT! You can't have Rogue without Gambit. Tell Iceman to back off. But anyway, the action and special effects were awesome. I very much enjoyed watching this movie. I'm looking forward to the third installment, and Gambits appearence!

The best damn sequel ever made - X2: X-Men United Reviews

In the long, exhausting and ultimately overhyped wake of film sequels, "X2" is one to break the surface of the competition as a sequel that does what no other sequel substantialy could for it predecesor; be much bigger and much better in story (mostly) and in effects, as well as... well, everything else. It expands the world of comicbooks and film, making it spectacularly entertainment, and just when we all thought it couldn't get any bigger, the film stuns us til the very end. A hundred times better than the first at so many levels, a thousand times better than any comicbook-based film so far. Unarguably, the greatest sequel ever made.

Mutations out of the extraordinary! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This movie was excellent!! It is not often that a sequel will surpass it predecessor, but X-2 accomplishes this feat by leaps and bounds. Just the opening scene alone will blow your mind with a spectacular graphics display that introduces a new character into the plot, the Amazing Nightcrawler. He has the ability to teleport himself from one place to another instantaneously. You have got to go see the movie to see how well he can kick some butt. The rest of the movie is not quite as action packed as those first 10 minutes but is still able to keep one riveted to their seat. X-2 is another great movie to enjoy with a date, friends, or family. ...I'm definitely going to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD. GO SEE IT!

Do not mess with the x! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

I didn't see the first one but when I did I admit this one was way better! It had a better story line, more action, great special effects and the actors were just perfect for this moive! I enjoy super hero movies but this one by far is the best! The first X-Men was just the beging pretty much but still you didn't need to see it to understand what was going on in the second movie because it didn;t invole most of the first one. All the actors where great! Halle Berry makes a great Storm! When I told my mom that was her she was shocked! Plus Nightcrawler's make up was so great that I never thought it was Alan Cummings under all that indgio goop! I just can't wait for this to come out on video and dvd because when it does you'll see me camping out at Blockbuster.

Great movie - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X2 is one of the best movies i've ever seen. Compared to the first one, this one is much better..at least it has improved more (i'm not trying to say the first one was bad, the first one was good). The characters, story and acting were really good. Visual Effects were brilliant. Truly one of the years best movies. I really, truly, recommend this film if anyone was is planning to go to the movies. It's just a great movie!!!!!!

Surprisingly engaging! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

i wasn't expecting much from this film...i mean, pretty much any film these days with a "2" or a "3" in the title seems to be guaranteed to have a "0" in the plot department and it's primary footage is dedicated to some sort of car chase or explosion. that's why X2 was such a wonderful experience - it's an action movie with (god forbid!) a plot! the tension between the rival factions within the mutant community is fascinating, and each of the characters (with the minor exceptions of Storm and the wimpy guy with the laser/glasses thang) are well-thought out and compelling to watch. X2 was a significant improvement on X1 - as the "Empire Strikes Back" of the X-Men series, it holds it's head up well and leaves you wanting to know how the story will resolve itself in future installments. I'd CERTAINLY recommend X2 over Matrix Reloaded, T3 or Hulk - it's the intelligent choice.

One of the best sequels of 2003 - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This s a really enjoyable film, filled with dazzling special effects, great stunts and exciting fight scenes. Hugh Jackman does a fantastic as Wolverine, Newcomer 'Nightcrawler' almost steals the show. Definately see this film! If Bryan Singer stays on the right track XMEN3 is going to be awesome!!

Soooooo cooooool! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

THIS MOVIE IS SO COOL! MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS ROGUE! HALLE BERRY AND OTHERS DELIVER A GREAT SEQUEL THAT IS SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL! GO SEE IT! IT COMES OUT ON DVD ON NOVEMBER 25. I LOVE IT!

A great movie. - X2: X-Men United Reviews

The x-men 2 movie was a real surprise. I didnt expect it to be as good as it was. I am no comic fanatic. I saw the first x-men movie and thought it was a c+ movie, spider-man was a b-, dardevel was a c, and the hulk was a d+. This movie was one of the best action movies this year. In fact, it might be one of the best action movies I have ever seen. The major reason I enjoyed this movie is because of the story line. It isnt the normal "theres a bad guy loose and the super hero kills him and the world it a safer place again,( while getting the girl)." This movie is more of a anti super hero movie. It is much darker then most comic book movies but still maintains a comedic sence. The super heros in the movie are anti super heros because everyone who they save hates them, and it is on a bigger scale then spider-man. Anouther thing about this movie is the fact that their are a team of x-men instead of one or two super heros agent one or two super villins. another plus is the fact that the story isbased around a probelm that can never be solved. The probelm is the growing fear of the mutant kind on earth. Every year more and more mutants are born, and every year there are more people to hate them. Even families are separated by this as shown when the iceman reterns home after his school was invaded by government officals. After showing his family his mutation, his brother calls the police in jealousy, and states that his family is under attack by mutants. This conplex storyline of prejudice and hatred twords mutants is a giant opening for a third instalment, and hopfully it is just as good as this one.

The best of the best indeed - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This is the best movie of the Summer, hands down!!! I'm just posting this review right now coz i wanted to veiw all the other potential contenders for that title and I'm very happy to say that X2: X-men United is best of them all. Yes. I saw Terminator 3, Hulk, and the much-hyped The Matrix Reloaded and none of them comes even close to X2 in overall quality. I saw X2 on the second day of its release with my parents and two sisters(one younger, one older). I,personally, loved the movie and I'm a diehard fan (ie. the hardest to please) of the comics even before the first movie came out. The restof the family tho, where novice to the mutant world and they (with the rest of the sold-out theater)laughed, ooohed, ahhhed, cheered at the right moments. Even after the film, everyone was abuzz especially regarding the ending of the movie (re: one character's ultimate sacrifice and her inevitable evolution into Phoenix). The best scenes are Nightcrawler's attack on the President, mansion raid by the rogue military, Magneto's escape scene, Nightcrawler and Mystique's little moment (they're mother-son), the whole jet chase scene, the whole Dark Cerebro scene, Wolverine vs. Deathstrike, and foreshadowing to Jean's inevitable Phoenix, etc. I also happen to think that this has the best ensemble cast in recent memory. Patrick Stewart as Prof. X (Star trek films), Sir Ian McKellan as Magneto (Gandalf in Lord of the Rings), Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Halle Berry as Storm (Monster's Ball), Famke Janssen as Jean Grey (Golden Eye), James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos as Mystique, Anna Paquin as Rogue (The Piano), Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler (Anniversarry Party), Brian Cox as Col. William Stryker (The Ring) and Kelly Hu as Lady Deathstrike. I highly recommend this to anyone who just wants to have a good time. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to rent the first movie first (i recommend the X-men 1.5 with plenty of X-tras).

What a ride!!!!!!! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X2: X-men united is one of those rare sequals, where the second movie is way better then the first. Unlike X-men, where we were left the theater scratching our heads. X2, leaves us with an addiction of seeing the third film immediatly! This film stands with Aliens, T2-Judgement Day, and The Matrix Reloaded. Unlike other comic book movie sequals, where it's mindless special effects. X2 gives us a theme about different people and how we treat them. Also, it deals with racism in a good way. All I could say about this movie is,"what a ride!" X2 rocks! I hope the third movie could be better then this one. Another thing, For everyone who worked on this film. All i could say is,"Great Job!"

X marks the spot - X2: X-Men United Reviews

I always found X-Men to be the coolest brand from Marvel Comics, and this movie just made it better. X2 is a great flick that is worth your while. The sequel is way better than the first and much longer, making it bigger and explosive. For fun, action, and thrilling, X2 is fine.

Word... - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This was Awsome. I use to thought the cartoon was dread. As well as the first movie. But this one wiped the sweat of my face. The actring and direction was good. The story was Oscar Winning and this movie should such great cinematic style. Although I see some potential, and I have seen Better I rate this movie a 8/10. If You have not seen it see it before there is no chance. WORD

An explosive extraveganza - X2: X-Men United Reviews

Bryan Singer's follow-up to 2000's X-Men is pumped up 10 degrees higher than the original and has more of the feeling of a typical X-Men storyline. Brian Cox plays the evil General Stryker, whose devious plan will use Professor Xavier's powers to wipe out all mutants everywhere. This causes an odd team-up with former foes Magneto and Mystique with the X-Men in order to stop Stryker and rescue Profesor X. Doesn't this sound like a plot for a few months' issues of an X-Men comic? Brian Singer really captures each individual mutant's powers a lot better than the first one. Fans who want to see Wolverine go full beserko get it. Fans who want to see Storm, Magneto, Jean Grey, and Pyro at the full extent of their powers get their wish. The addition of Nightcrawler to the team just extends the impressive X-Men roster. His opening scene in the White House is just stunning (complete with Mozart's requiem). The acting is a bit stiff at times, especially Halle Berry's Storm who is the weakest character in the new movies compared to the comic books. Then ending is great especially for those who can forsee what is coming, and I thouroughly am anticipating X3!

Top 3 favorite superhero movie - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This movie is really outstanding. The first x-men movie is really great..The characters in the first one somewhat perfect to the x-men comic book characters. But in this one the characters are right on the money. Wolverine, Storm, Professor X, Jean, Cyclops, Rogue, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Magneto, Mystique, Pyro, Lady Deathstrike, Shadowcat, Colossus, Mastermind, heck even Siryn was in this movie. And still each and all of the characters add a great deal of conflict and importance this very excellent film. Unlike the Spider-man movies you do noy have to watch the firstonr. But it doesnt hurt to anyways. The stand out characters are Wolverine, Mystique, Nightcrawler, Storm And Rogue( notice thats why they are on the cover of the DVD)

One of the best movies this summer... - X2: X-Men United Reviews

This is definitely a movie worth watching this summer. Surprisingly, this is by far one of my favorites this summer. I watched this the 4th week it was released.. and was I glad that I did watch it on the big screen. The visuals were exceptional. Storyline was better than the first. I liked the fact that they are bringing in more new characters and also expanding the characters from the first movie. I'm looking forward to seeing more X-Men installments and more characters coming into play.

Screw the matrix: x2 is it !!!! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

Holy freakin Smokes! When I walked out of X2 with my hubby, we high-fived each other for having spent the best 20 bucks we ever did at a movie house. I felt (in my best Jackie Chiles voice) exhilarated, endorphinized, adrenalized. And this is coming from a fervent fan of T-2:Judgement Day, Pulp Fiction, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Enter the Dragon, Face/Off and a bunch of other brilliant action poems on film. I have never read an X-men comic in my life and ya know what? The movie just might turn me into a comicbook geek. The special effects: Elvis lives!!!! Lemme just say that the first fight sequence with Nightcrawler in the White House left me open-jawed and thankful that I am not blind and/or deaf. Magneto's escape from his plastic jail is stunning and gasp-worthy. Pyro unleashing his wrath when he thinks Wolvie is a goner has some awesome explosions and will inspire a whole new generation of young arsonists. The story is complex and yet coherent, thrilling and thought-provoking, very politically incorrect as it attacks the current political and social climate of paranoia, xenophobia and misuse of the Bible as an instrument of hatred and name-calling. And here's an action flick where the women slam ass. Feminists, this magnificent epic was produced by a woman. I'll bet she got some hot guys on her casting couch. Wolvie is a sexy beast, Prof. X and Magneto are classy and cool, but its Cyclops whose shades just add to his smoldering macho charisma. And compare all this to the Matrix-Reloaded,a pathetic confused ridiculous attempt at being cool and appeal to the "younger generation", like a Kentucky pastor's wife dressing like Gwen Stefani to "reach out to the kids" at a pot-is-evil church-kids lecture. Go home Neo and Morpheus, you're just a nice old 90s memory and Trinity, get Neo to marry you or kick him to the curb and instead get a piece of Wolvie's ass. He has cooler powers anyway and doesn't dress like a Gregorian monk lost in a goth boutique. X2 has way way better lighting, way way better production design and way cooler makeup and costumes than the Matrix. And it is as it sould be given that the director is gay. Yep Queer eye for the Film Guy. Why then did the Matrix-Reloaded make more money? Because, gentle reader, most of us are stupid enough to want to believe that a movie saturated with neon green lighting, a sex scene that's boring, prudish and embarrassing all at once, and a 10 minute boring-ass monologue from some old white guy who's, surprise surprise, God,(god can never be a black woman or an Asian guy) is the Best Thing to Come Out of Summer 2003 besides killing Iraqi civilians. And if anyone of you are pathetic enough not to see X2 because yes the movie is a clarion call to accept gay folks as folks and as Americans, well then, lets just say you're exactly the kind of ***** who's the villain in this movie and justly gets strangled and shredded by Wolvie.

X men and their personalities - X2: X-Men United Reviews

Checking on the hype of X Men 2 on the Internet made me think its one of the movies in the 21st century with a huge fan crowd and generously high rating. While most of my other movie reviews are less contemporary, I?ll like to put X Men 2 in the list simply for its hearty entertainment. X Men 2 is simply about mutant superheroes (from the comics published by Marvel Comics) from two rival parties uniting to survive the annihilation of an mutant hating human and the growing hate the world has against freak mutants. This movie has its story based upon the graphic novel ?God loves, Man Killls? where evangelist Rev. Stryker goes on a mission to kill all mutants. I was never an X Men comic fan minus the few X Men cartoons I have watched to be acquainted with the title and some of the characters. But the way this movie was made introduced X Men so well, that it stirred my interest to check out the characters on the net. X Men 2 has just the right number of interesting characters (mutants) to develop them in the movie and to create anticipation for the 3rd sequel. And most of the cast did justice to the characters with notable mention of Magneto and Prof. Xavier played by Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. Ian demonstrates adequate charisma to fuel his character putting much power in his words, and revealing a surprisingly approachable Magneto. Magneto showed signs of leadership in knowing the potential of his team and giving sound direction to usurp their powers for his selfish motives of course. I particularly liked the part when Magneto commended the potential of Mystique in the jet and later was not hesitant to summon her for the big role of infiltrating Cerebrol 2 and be chosen among the other mutants. On the other hand, Prof. X demonstrated a gentle leader who mentors his team, giving them appropriate time to discover their potential and the right direction for themselves. Patrick?s reflective and cool countenance bodes well for this character. While little insights can be obtained from this movie, I am impressed by the potential of X Men in the coming sequels and how the story line can build up for much fan anticipation.

Speechless (in a good way) - X2: X-Men United Reviews

I dont know what to say, this movie rocked. WOW! Brilliant X-cellent, and so much more. Action Packed Funny and romantic, and wolverine is HOT! I dont just recommend it I DEMAND THAT YOU SEE THIS MOVIE, NOW, TODAY, STOP READING THIS GO GO GO. SEE THE MOVIE. WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE GO SEE THAT MOVIE NOW!!!

So much better than the first movie!! - X2: X-Men United Reviews

X2:X men united is one of the must-see movies for 2003. it has strong storyline backup for good action scenes in the movie. Although it may seem to be kinda long-winded movie for some action movie fans, i think it is the flow of the story of the whole movie, makes it unique and stand out from other comic-turn-movie movies. i like the second movie very much, but i think the first movie isn't that bad as well. worth to give them both a look!

X-men 2 - X2: X-Men United Reviews

The X-Men are back and better than ever. This film, in my opinion, is better than the orginial and is the best of the comic book stories so far. The visuals are well done and the acting almost perfect. I think that the movie overall is the best of the summer movies so far, from may to july. I think that the directing is excellant. I liked the scene the bad and the good join to fight the humans. I felt very inserted in the movie and felt like I could not keep my eyes over the screen. This is what I think of the movie.

X2 is absolutely brilliant - X2: X-Men United Reviews

I never would've thought that one of my favourite movies would end up being "X2"! I absolutely loved the first one but the second installment is even better. The story is good (maybe not so original, but hey...Still better than most of what's out there nowadays), the acting is great, the visual effects are AMAZING (especially Nightcrawler's teleporting),... One of the best things about this movie is the addition of new Characters, especially 'Lady Deathstrike' (played by the gorgeous Kelly Hu) & 'NightCrawler' (Alan Cumming). While other characters are getting more screentime like Storm & Mystique (who is absolutely brilliant & beautiful in blue). But the real star of the movie is the man behind it all...Bryan Singer...I don't believe that anyone could've done a better job than Bryan himself. He cared so much about the movie & put all his energy and love to make this movie. He deserves most of the credit! Even the critics seem to enjoy this movie (how many times does that happen?) & X2 is way underrated (unlike The Matrix Reloaded, which is totally overrated). But i think it's good, if people don't expect too much of a movie& the hype isn't too big...it can only make people enjoy it more! This movie is for everybody, i strongly recommend everyone who hasn't seen it to do so. Even if you don't like these kind of movies...i'm positively sure you will enjoy this one. I can't wait for X3, hopefully with the same director, same actors & some new characters :-)
